We journey today to the distant island of Tanna. Instead of staying in town at a "hotel", we decided to book with a local and get a true, authentic Tanna experience. So happy we did. Even though we were without many luxuries, to expose our children to this sort of experience is priceless!

Join us as we face fears and go face to face with the world's most accessible active volcano. Yasur Volcano is on the island of Tanna. We flew from the main island of Efate to Tanna for this volcano. It was an epic adventure filled with sounds and sites we will always remember. It is a unique experience especially special for our volcano loving kiddo!

Join us as we have the most authentic and eye-opening cultural experience. On the island of Tanna, there is a custom village called Yakel Village where they still live by ancient traditions passed down from generation to generation. A movie was actually filmed there telling a true Romeo and Juliet story from many years ago. We thought there would be other travelers there visiting the village, but there wasn't. It was just us. The villagers were welcoming and happy to have us there. It was such a neat experience for the kids to see first hand how differently people live than them.

We venture back to the island of Efate after a few days in Tanna. Although the flight was short...45 minutes...going between 2 small airports, we still ran into some challenges. We assumed there would be no problems with the luggage because you see it get loaded on the plane and you see it get offloaded. What could happen, right? We don't need to pack important items in our carry ons because nothing can happen with such small airports, right?? We were wrong! They left most of the luggage in Tanna! We were without meds, chargers, snorkel gear, and some clothes. We figured out how to survivie without it for a while! In the meantime, we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with a day adventuring around the island. We stopped by Blue Lagoon for a swim and a turtle sanctuary to see and learn about the turtles!
